Justice Rooted in Service

Gloria Marin came to Los Angeles in 1980 as a young child after her family fled civil war in  Nicaragua. They arrived with very little and did not speak English. However, with deep belief in the promise and opportunity of this Country, her parents sought freedom and opportunity for their children. Their journey shaped Gloria’s life and her commitment to public service.

Before becoming a prosecutor, Gloria spent eight years working directly with victims of crime. As a Victim Services Representative, she helped survivors of domestic violence and child sexual abuse navigate the justice system during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. While doing that full-time work, she attended Loyola Law School at night and helped support her family.

In 2005, Gloria joined the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. For more than two decades, she has prosecuted serious felony cases and conducted more than ninety jury trials to verdict. She spent six years in the Sex Crimes Division handling complex and sensitive cases involving sexual assault and crimes against children, work that demands dedication, careful judgment, and empathy for the most vulnerable victims of crime.

Her leadership and experience earned her key roles within the Office. Gloria served as a training attorney, helping prepare the next generation of prosecutors and ensuring that cases are handled with professionalism and integrity. In 2021, she was promoted to  Deputy-in-Charge of the Inglewood Juvenile Division. She currently serves as Deputy in charge of the Asset Forfeiture Division, where she oversees attorneys and helps guide important legal decisions that affect the community.

Gloria is also a cancer survivor. That experience strengthened her resolve and deepened her appreciation for both perseverance and community.

If elected, Gloria would become the first Nicaraguan American judge in the history of the  Los Angeles Superior Court.

Gloria Marin is running for judge to bring experience, integrity, and steady judgment to the bench, and will serve the people of Los Angeles County with impartiality, transparency, and compassion.
